An online General Body Meeting of IAPSM was conducted on 20th March, 2021; 6 pm onwards during the 48th National IAPSM Conference, Chandigarh under the chairpersonship of President, Dr. Sanjay Zodpey. He welcomed all the members and requested Dr. A. M. Kadri, Secretary General to initiate the proceeding of the meetings.

Agenda 1: Approval of previous GBM minutes

Approved unanimously

Agenda 2: Congratulating Dr. Chandrakant Pandav, on being conferred Padma Shri

Dr. Chandrakant Pandav, past president of IAPSM, was congratulated by the IAPSM on being conferred Padma Shri from the Government of India. It was put on record that this has brought glory to the Community Medicine and IAPSM takes great pride in it.

Agenda 3: Appraisal of key actions taken report

  1. MIYCN supportive supervision project conducted in UP and Bihar by MIYCN Committee headed by Dr Pragati Chabbra and Dr Amir Maroof
  2. MIYCN Private sector project which analysed the MIYCN practices among private paediatrician and Obstetrician across 5 states was successfully executed by Dr Lalit Sankhe.
  3. IAPSM Young Leadership Conclave at MGIMS, Sevagram, Wardha being held on 26 - 27 March and with the aim of nurturing leadership in the young members for strengthening the future IAPSM
  4. Institutional ethical committee of IAPSM is formed. It is officiating at Community Medicine Department, GMERS, Sola, Ahmedabad and Dr. Rashmi Sharma is the current member secretary of it.

  6. Subnational Certification process for TB elimination was successfully conducted in 67 districts across the India in collaboration with ICMR-NIE and WHO, under NTEP core committee lead by Dr Bhavesh Modi, Dr Ashok Bhardwaj and Dr Anil Purty. IAPSM nominated Dr Ashok Bhardwaj on its behalf for the felicitation by MoHFW for his distinguished contributions in RNTCP/NTEP.
  7. 2nd edition of IAPSM Textbook of Community Medicine was released. IAPSM has decided that textbook will be available at 50% discount to all IAPSM members.


Agenda 4: Report of Committee on orations and FIAPSM

Dr Ashok Bhardwaj, Chairperson, FIAPSM & Oration committee declared results for oration and FIAPSM.

Agenda 5: OMAG Presidentship

Dr. Suneela Garg was requested to be president of the OMAG for next year by the OMAG office. All members appreciated and assured to extend the support to her in leading the OMAG

Agenda 6: MOU with world forum of Preventive Medicine

Dr. Sanjay Zodpey is nominated to represent IAPSM to the world forum of Preventive Medicine

Agenda 7: MOU with FICCI

Approved unanimously by the GB

Agenda 8: MOU with DocPlexus:

Approved unanimously by the GB

Agenda 9: Approval for Multicentric study on blood pressure from the fund of IJCM

It was decided to constitute a small group in leadership of Dr Pradeep Kumar, Chief editor, IJCM to look into finer details of study and explore collateral funding for strengthening the study and to make it more relevant for the country. The study should be finalized within a 3 months' time frame and authority of approval is delegated to GC.

Agenda 10: Agenda for members

  • The State chapter must follow the central constitution without any change.
  • There is no need to register the State Chapters at the State level or get a PAN Card. A guideline to run State Chapters be issued and followed by all states. The grants/share received by the State Chapters from centre should be utilized by States and vouchers be submitted to HQ for audit purposes.
  • Once someone has served as President of IAPSM either at National or State level, he/she should not be allowed to contest for a lower position in the Association.


It was decided that a committee of three members to be constituted on all three points, and to be submitted to next GB

  • A Past President of IAPSM be taken as GC Member (Ex-Officio) and be invited to participate wherever feasible, both at the National and State level.
  • It was decided that IAPSM leadership council to be formed with all past presidents, secretary generals and Chief editors where current President can chair the meeting and Secretary General may be the convener.


Agenda 11: Venue of the next conference:

  • 49th Annual National conference of IAPSM for 2022 has been offered to GMC Nagpur, Maharashtra. Dr Narlawar, Professor & Head, GMC Nagpur invited all the members of IAPSM for this conference on the behalf of organizing institute. GB extended all the support to make it a grand success.
  • For organization of 50th National Conference of IAPSM, to be held in 2023, interest from GMC Bhopal and AIIMS Bibinagar, Hyderabad were received. It was decided by the GB to give a chance to AIIMS, Bibinagar.


Agenda 12: Presidential Appreciation Awards

It was proposed that PG should not be given presidential award. Faculty and non-faculty should not be given separate awards and distribution is skewed. Age for presidential award should be restricted to 40 years as by 45 years most are eligible for FIAPSM. Age criteria has been laid down for young faculty. It was decided that a committee may be constituted and report may be submitted to next GC.

Agenda 13: IJCM Report

Dr Pradeep Kumar, Chief editor, presented the annual report of IJCM for 2020.

  • Record submission of new articles (1054)
  • No backlog of articles of 2019
  • Publication of more articles (143) in 4 issues, each comprising of 160 – 180 pages
  • Improvement of journal ranking
  • Improved finances which enabled journal to print bigger issues, support IJCM FF research grants from current year, additional entitlements to BK Mahajan awardee and additional awards for second and third best papers published in IJCM

Agenda: 14: Approval of Audited report by Treasure

Audited report for the year 2019-20 was presented by IAPSM Treasurer and it was passed by the GB. It was suggested to shift 2 FDs of ₹ 951561 and ₹ 40000 to Debt funds considering higher returns on Debt funds. It was approved by the GB.

Agenda: 15: Declaration of Election result

Dr Anil Purty, Chairperson, IAPSM presented the election result.



As per the constitutional provision, Vice President was nominated from the Organizing Institute and vacant posts are to filled as co-opt by Secretary General in consultation President and Chief Editor.

Agenda: 16: Any agenda with permission of chair

WORLD NCD federation and IAPSM have partnered in an initiative. Dr J.S Thakur, President of World NCD Federation shared the initiatives about research and family medicine. Promote evidence based public health, global health and wellness initiative, khelo haso hasaao, badho badhaao, etc. For the same World NCD federation has given grants of Rs 1.5 lakh in the field of NCD; in different three categories of Rs. 50,000 in each category in IAPSMCON2021. GB has appreciated his support and put it on record.

Meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sanjay Zodpey, President. He expressed gratitude to all the members for their active participation. Also, General Body congratulated entire team of Community Medicine Department and School of Public Health of PGIMER for organizing a wonderful conference and setting a mile stone for others.
