Sir,
A recent publication on oral cancer screening [1] is interesting. Uplap et al. concluded that screening of the oral cavity at the workplace is effective when it is combined with tobacco cessation. [1] There are some points to be discussed. First, the use of naked eye screening might not be a standard technique and this can result in interobserver variation. Setting a good protocol with adjustment for subjective observation might be helpful in improving the use of the screening test. The use of additional tools such as brush biopsy might be considered in screening. [2] Second, it might not be appropriate to say that this technique is effective. The criteria to be used to determine whether the outcome is effective or not should be mentioned.
