It is quite a pleasure to read through this text book. The authors' extensive experience in teaching, research, and health management is clearly visible in some chapters of this book, i.e., community diagnosis organizational behavior, gender issues, women empowerment, applied nutrition, and research and medical ethics are worth mentioning, which reflect the authors' real life exposure in addition to the lucid and comprehensive presentation.

This text book is a practically oriented, compact literature with well-delineated theory illustrations. The logical discussion of public health concepts is precisely, in the natural sequence, required for the learning process and underscores the authors' strong understanding in educational psychology. The basic fields like RCH, nutrition, and behavioral sciences are adequately dealt with. The concepts in epidemiology and health administration are discussed in a clear-cut way. Latest information is incorporated throughout, especially in chapters on communicable and non-communicable diseases. The book caters to the complete needs of undergraduate medical students and basic need of postgraduates. Information through the tables is apt, concise, clear, and complete. Similarly, the illustrations are factually straightforward without any confusion. The references are appropriate. The index has to be in greater detail for ready reckoning.

We would recommend this book to all undergraduate, postgraduate, and paramedical students as well as faculty and practitioners of community medicine/preventive and social medicine.
